I am looking for a basic bank account which is

2.can maintain/transfer money online
3.give me debit card
4.doesnt require monthly payments

Hit Barclays with an application never had a problem there.
Fee free and you can personlise your own debit card if your into that.0 -
Halifax's Reward account, just have a transfer of £1000 paid in each month to get £5 cash back. You can always move the monies back the following day.
It would do everything else you want also. Only steer away if you need to use overdraft I would say.0
