Hi
I've been made redundant from my teaching post and my contract finishes on the 31st August. I found out i was pregnant on Friday and i am about 7 weeks gone. I have been told that i am not allowed to work for a 4 week period after my contract finishes or they will recover my redundancy payment.
But at 4 months gone no one is going to employ me are they? I feel like i'm stuck in limbo! Can i claim maternity payments from my employer?
Thanks

No - is there any suggestion that your pregnancy was the reason for redundancy?
I suspect at 7 weeks now they were not even aware when they started the process.
If they have offered ehanced terms (ie above statuatory) then you have to adhere to that and not work for 4 weeks - If statuatory then they only normally have the 4 weeks if that LA, so you can work for a neigbouring one.
Also agencies take on pregnant teachers so i'd recommend registering with them.0 -
No they identified me back in April and confirmed end of last half term. I think its enhanced. i've just had an email back from my redundancy person in the LA and she says i will get SMP.0
