Passport problems - Peterborough

Hi all,
Havin an absolute nightmare with the passport office at the moment, as i guess most people are.
I applied for a replacement passport at the beginning of july as i washed my old one, using the post office check and send service. Im going away on august 1st. I was told 1 month would be sufficient. As im going away a week today im getting a bit nervous now as its cutting it close. I was told by the passport office/post office that 1 month would be sufficient, even at this time of year. I should have ignored them and gone for the fast track 1 week.
I keep phoning the help line who keep saying its in peterborough, but they dont know the status. When they call peterborough to try and get an upgrade (1 day passport) they cant seem get through as its so busy, and keep telling me to call back. Ive phoned an emailed them about 30 times, but still being told to phone back. They have also emailed Peterborough for me and have told me that i will get a response in 48 hours. 3-4 Days later, nothing!
Anyone had any similar issues? Any advice?

yes next time - accidentally wash it with plenty of time before your holiday!!

Sorry to hear it, no advice, just empathy, had same thing...didnt wash mine tho, we go a few days after you. Been told yesterday mine has been printed so until a 24 hours ago, i had the same panic.
