Help - Ticket Bought As Gift But Not Wanted

As a gift a while back, I bought my other half a ticket to a skating bootcamp (roller derby). I put a downpayment on the ticket, as she should have completed her minimum skills test by then, with remaining payment required by 1st July.
The inclement weather meant the skills test was put back to later in July, and in good faith I paid the balance on the rest of the ticket.
For whatever reason, she wasn't passed, and has since stopped skating.
I have a ticket I've paid in excess of £200 for that is going unused.
The organisers won't refund or transfer the ticket. In fairness, it states this on their website. If this is what it is, I guess I have to accept it.
However, I'm hoping someone can find me a loophole on which I can challenge this. The website doesn't have any terms and conditions surrounding the ticket - google (can't post link as a new user).
Should I just accept that I've lost the £200, or can I challenge this?
I've already tried appealing to their better nature.

Welcome to MSE. As you state it does state that tickets are non transferable and no refunds on the booking page and FAQ on the website. I know you say your OH has stopped skating, but maybe she could change to a basic session as it seems they offer one at the bootcamp and if there are spaces it says you can swap groups by emailing them so that the gift is not wasted.

Thanks. Already suggested that and she doesn't want anything to do with skating for a while.
I have found precedent elsewhere where the organisers permitted transfer of a ticket. I'll have to try leveraging that point, else accept my losses.
Thanks for your support.0
