IVA question - Morgage
Options
Hi everyone! I have something which is really worrying me. My partner is currently applying for Mortgage, solely in his name but I am worried that my IVA is going to have an affect on him getting one. We don't have any joint bank accounts or anything like that but my name is on the electoral register at his currently address.
I am in a real panic. I don't want what I have done to affect him in anyway.
Does anyone know if he will be affected?
I always thought that credit rating going on the person rather than the household but I read something on the think money website earlier about the electoral register linking people.

Credit files do go on the person, however if there are joint bank accounts or finance then there is a financial link created between the parties. From what you've said though he should be fine.0

Thank you. It was this which has got me worried.

You mean this quote from thinkmoney.com....
"A credit record may also show the names of people who are on the electoral register at the same address, whether they are financially linked or not; so your IVA could affect your partner's credit record if you're just living together."
I beg to differ on this, if there is no financial association then living at the same address and being on the electoral role will have no impact on the credit reports. You'll both have separate credit reports. It's only visible if a financial link is created.0 -
A caveat to my point above, sometimes agencies do create a financial association where non actually exist, if this is the case you need to complete a "Notice of Disassociation"
You should perhaps get hold of your credit report if you are in any way uncertain.0 -

Yes, that's the part I had read which worried me!
Thank you again, I think I will get hold of my credit report ASAP.0 -

Hello there.
It shouldn't do as it is not regarded as a financial connection. It's worth obtaining a copy of your file if you haven't already done so as any links will be shown on it.
Best wishes,
