Since it's less than £11 for a 2GB RAM module, how limited is your budget?

Are you running a 32-bit operating system?
If so, it would be a waste of time/money to have more than 4 GB of memory installed, since more than this cannot be addressed. In fact, it will probably not use more than 3 to 3¼ GB of memory.

Is that a custom built or stock dell inspiron 560 desktop?
How do I add a signature?

Indeed... this question comes from the same person advising us not to buy a premade PC

To find ram suitable for your pc I recommend using the Crucial website.

This gives an option to download a small program which analyses your pc and then advises you of various options to purchase that are designed for your particular pc.

I've used them many times and their prices are very competitive.

    cool thanks!

and its a stock pc with a few alterations.

I thought it would cost more than £11! Its 64 bit so I might go for 8gb.

is it possible to get 10 gb or just 16?

The question would be why would you do this? (10gb/16GB) assuming dual channel motherboard 10gb would be daft...and what are you doing to use 16GB?...nothing.
  • as per previous threads by this person school is out:mad:
