Home security / Cameras

Options
Hi,
Wonder if anyone can advise on a home security system.
I'm after a small camera to go above the front and rear doors.
I'd like the data to go to my computer hard drive or NAS box.
Probably sufficient just to record movment so not recording all the time.
I'd like to be able to dial in from the PC / android phone/tablet and see the live image.
I'd like to be able to access the old recordings from my PC/Tab/Phone.
Does such a product exist?
Thanks.

There are plenty of products on the market that can give you what you want. What you also need is an idea of your budget. There is no point looking for a system to give you all of your needs if you only have a few pounds to spend. Some of the systems I design cost in the very high thousands. Not exactly domestic useage.

For a pretty basic system you could look at Maplins to start.

Your best bet is to work out how much you are willing to spend and get the best you can for that budget. If you look at systems first and then the budget can't cope then you will never be satisfied with a make-do system.

Do you need IR/LED lighting? This increases the unit costs. What sort of image quality are you expecting/requiring?

    Budget is £150.

It's certainly a domestic system, not expecting pro quality at that price.
I'd like to be able to view images at night, not sure if my existing lighting would be sufficient.

I don't have particular security 'concerns' but I am away from home a lot leaving the wife at home alone. It's also 1st floor living so would be handy to see who is at the door without having to tram down 2 or 3 flights of stairs.

I use IP cameras, i can move them and change zoom on them from my phone, they do all you want and record to your computer / nas depending how you set them up.

I got mine from ebuyer. think they were about £40-50 per camera and run through my wifi,

I have set them to motion record and store to my nas and also get an email with a still pic of any motion detected.

Then when i log into the camera i can move it round if nothing is in view to see if anything is still there.
