I've read many a times people having say 4,5,10,12 years NCD or NCB (whichever one you want to call it). But recently upon trying to get an insurance policy i'm asked 'How many NCDs have you earnt in the last 3 years?'

This may well be a dumb question (especially since i've been driving for about 7 years now!!), but surely if insurers are asking this the maximum you could have earnt is 3 years? So anymore than this is surplus to requirements..

Does this make sense? Have I missed something fundamental here?
