Leon Bond

Hi all,

I am thinking of investing in a Leon Bond, but I have never really invested in anything before, so was wondering if anyone had an opinion about the scheme?!

Apparently I am not allowed to post links as a new user. So i have added with a space....

leonrestaurants. co.uk/note-about-Leon-Bond

I would invest £1500 for 3 years, and I am confident that I would not need the money in that time.

Thanks!

Since you can only spend the interest in their restaurants it seems like a very poor choice, even if the company survives the length of the bond.

I am going to tag this as spam.

I apologise if it is not but a first time poster talking about some obscure scheme that is clearly there to benefit the restaurant and not the individual doesnt smell right.

It appears to be a corporate bond (a loan to a company) without FSCS protection, so you would lose some or all of your capital if they became insolvent. If you will use the Leon Pounds in their restaurants then the return isn't too bad but do be sure that you don't invest more than 5% of your investable assets in such investments, or whatever lower amount you can afford to lose.

A number of small business are doing this and like all small business lending it's quite high risk but can be good if you are fortunate.
  • Thanks everyone!! Your responses are really helpful. Quite amused that I look like spam, it's just genuinely the first investment opportunity that has piqued my interest (because I've never really looked out for them...)!

I'll think about it some more.

I think I'll mark it as spam too, it seems suspect that somebody new comes in and talks about a little heard of investment, not regulated by the FSA as their first post.
