nah makro is pants imo... i work there and most of the makro mail stuff can be brought all year around at the same price in costco. The only things we buy is toilet rolls (24 buy one pack get one free for £7.49) and reduced milk :rotfl: i do get xmas presents if they are at silly prices (like posters/books at 79p ~ £1.99) but other than that its not too good.. even food is more expensive than morrisons... ie mc cains chipss £1.99 in morrisons £2.49 in makro0

if you print a letter head from your own computer with a company name (any) and you will be able to get a card, there is no VAT registers that they check to see if the company is trading
good luck.
i get post from them and the makro mail deals are real good (but most are what you dont usually buy)

Found some good deals on wine occasionally.
rarely see anyone buying for business (in quantity), makes you wonder how they stay in business.0 -
I find the meat is good, occasionally leg of lamb for £4 kilo (lot less than Tesco even when tescos have an offer) and the beef is very nice indeed. Also pine furniture reasonably priced sometimes, dont buy anything else in there though. As previous posters have said, you have to price check and remember to add vat.0

I think the only other area which Makro sometimes excel at is large furniture (especially beds for some reason) - they sell beds and mattresses very cheaply when they are on offer. I am currently lying on a makro memory foam mattress purchased for £220 when the nearest competitor price was £300 and a makro leather bed (Kingsize) which I got for £200 - again very cheap and reasonable quality.
TV's can sometimes be cheaper than the large retailers but they don't often beat online stores.
I find most other things in the store comparable to B&Q or supermarkets. Some people seem to load up their trollies which amazes me as most things in the store are more expensive than Tesco etc
I think most people like the concept of EVERYTHING under one roof as well.Tesco is my second home:j0 -
Be extremely careful about the advice on borrowing a card. Makro have tightened up their card issue and entry systems and the last time I went, someone had their card taken away because they could not prove they were the cardholder.
When I registered a new member of staff, I received a telephone call to check it was me that signed the form. The member of staff then received a call to check they actually worked for the firm.0 -
I got my card from the Edinburgh branch because i am a civil servant. If the department you work for has an official stamp you just stamp the application form and you get a membership no problem. You can also get an additional card for a family member or a friend.0

All the card holder has to do is give the borrower a note stating that they have permission to use the card on their behalf. This is how hubby uses my card regularly.
Not sure if they apply the rules differently between spouses but my local Makro will definitely not let you in if the cardholder is not present. The poster in store says "under any circumstances".0 -
Been a Makro member on and off for years , its ok if you know what you want before you go and stick to it... we have really stopped going as we receive the leaflets every month with offers in and if you don't go on the day the offer starts they run out of the loss leaders really quickly especially cat food offers and washing tablets.... its very annoying....#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If you take someone else's card and pay with cash how can they tell you are not the cardholder? Assuming you are the same sex!!lol0
