We seem to be getting a bit of a pattern here...

Been with them since the Midland days (no, they weren't the good old (banking) days...). I mostly use internet banking which is one of the better ones, and am not too far from a branch for rare occasions like paying cheques in.

Don't find them intrusive - they send me an invite to a "financial review" every year, but as they never mention biscuits I don't bother. They could be calling me I suppose, but I never answer witheld or international calls anyway.

Banked with them for over 20 years, probably still got a bunch of different coloured elephant piggy piggy banks knocking around somewhere from when I was a "Griffin Saver", always had really good service.

Online banking is superb. Today I had to phone them up regarding a loan I have with them and couldn't fault the phone system either, while the person I spoke to was both polite and helpful.

The couple of times I have been over my overdraft limit (though by no more than a few pounds for a couple of days) I have never been charged.

Rarely go in to branches for anything, particularly as you can pay cheques in by machine, but last year got a mortgage quote and the staff were very good. Helpful, polite and clearly explained things for us.

I think the only issue I have ever had was while I was a student. I kept my registered address as my parents rather than term time address, but because my account was a student account, they wouldn't send replacement cards (issued after I finished university) to my address, only to my branch (a sub branch only open while I was at work). That said, one phone call and it was all sorted, cards transfered to a branch I could get to at lunch and everything after sent directly to me.

I'm indifferent - there are much better offers elsewhere for pretty much all products. But they do have their uses, I just have a normal current account (fantastic 0.10% interest ) since no minimum pay in required.

Since then I've had nothing but hassle from them and found them to be incompetent and uncooperative whenever I've needed any help.

Ditto, staff in the big branch in town are all miserys, overseas customer service call centre useless they never can understand what you are saying. Got a Natwest account and a Yorkshire Bank account now are they are both marvellous, excellent on line banking and UK call centres. Natwest actually also allow you to talk on the phone to someone in your own branch don't think any other bank does that.
Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it :D
  • I think the internet banking service is very good, the branch banking service is adequate and the student/graduate service is not bad either, quite willing to extend credit when you ask them nicely! I have a £1750 interest free overdraft facility on deposit elsewhere for a decent rate of interest so I've got no complaints!!
