The Book Depository Pre-Orders Warning

Hi All,
A word of warning to anyone placing a pre-order with The Book Depository......don't!! Wait until the book has actually been released before placing the order and save yourself money.
Firstly they want payment upfront and not when the book is actually dispatched. For me this was almost 30 days before the book was actually dispatched.
Secondly, the chances are when the title actually becomes available and in stock they will more than likely drop the price even further. I've lost several quid on one order alone by them suddenly dropping the price on release date from what it was on pre-order and then refusing to refund the difference when I raised the issue with them.
I accept what they are doing is not illegal but in terms of good customer service they've got a lot to learn.
Why can't they adopt the same policy as Amazon on pre-orders, ie you will be charged the lower price if the price falls between placing the order and release date. After all they are owned by Amazon.

Thanks for the warning - I never normally preorder anyway, but I'll bear this in mind0

Damn!! I placed a pre-order with them earlier this month for something coming out at the end of August (mainly because I need it IMMEDIATELY upon release for work purposes, and, ironically, their price for it now is cheaper than Amazon's). Guess I'll just have to sit tight, keep my fingers crossed and let you all know how it goes0

They listed a book I wanted for double the publisher's price. Other places listed it for lower prices but the Bookdepository was the only place that had it in stock! When I rang the publisher, I found it was being reprinted in August! I decided to wait...:)0
