Hi,
First let me say I am not techy minded so bear with me -
For the past 3 days I have been having the message "check disk for consistency" or something like that on startup. I have let it run a few times and I have pressed any key to cancel it. It happens on every start up whatever I do.
Today I have also started having a blue screen coming up when I am on my laptop that makes the laptop freeze and then shut down (can't remember what it says but I will have a better look if it happens again)
I have heard of "Blue Screen of Death" that sounds quite scary!
Is my laptop about to die? should I backup my Hard Drive? Any ideas how to fix this?

Follow the instructions here for running check disk. It may take a while so do it overnight and let it complete fully.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
make sure you check both:- Automatically fix file system errors.
- Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

Ok. Let us know how it went tomorrow.0

Well I came back to my laptop just and it was ready for me to logon so I assume it did the check. I restarted it to see if the disk check came up again and it did, I had to press any button to exit it. I haven't had blue screen come up yet but I have a feeling it will.
Is there anything else I can do?0 -
Do this below to give you time to read the bsod.Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Click Advanced system settings.
Click the Advanced tab.
In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

I thought you meant tick that box and run the check again? Did you mean tick the box in case the blue screen comes back?
Sorry I admit I am not the best with computers!0
