Natwest duplicated transaction/pending transaction

Hi,
I'm experiencing problem with my account at the minute and its with Natwest. Basically I purchased an Item from an American company (online) on the 10th of July and I was charged twice (duplicated transaction). The first payment has cleared off and the retailer has gotten the money. However, the second transaction has been pending since then, I've been pushed back and forth between Natwest and the Company, its just so frustration.
Natwest have given me the transaction code to the payment and I have passed this on to the American company several times, however they claim they can't release the funds from their side
1.Because they never requested the payment twice
2.Because their bank/merchant don't recognise the code
Natwest staffs have given me various conflicting information as to how long it takes for unclaimed pending transactions to drop off.
I feel soo helpless, its been dragging on for soo long. Also,i've incured soo much on my phone bill as i have been calling natwest and the American company several times.I am just a student and the amount involved is £426
Please help anyone

I'd expect an authorisation on the 10th to drop off by last week at the latest. Its beginning to sound not like an authorisation, but an actual payment.
Do you see the transaction listed twice on your statement? Or just missing from your available funds? If it's listed twice then you've been charged twice as I've never seen a pending payment listed as a transaction.
If you didn't authorise it and its present as an actual transaction, then I'd say it was time to dispute the transaction with your bank. Maybe even request a chargeback.0 -
The payment is only complete once the retailers name shows on your statement. Does the retailers name show for both transactions?
If the payment has actually debited twice you can call the retailers disputes team on 0845 366 0391.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The payment was only debited once. The second payment is still pending, doesn't come up on my online banking but natwest could see its voyage eyewear when i call them.
I checked my online banking as I was typing this and realised the transaction had dropped offyayyy!!!
So basically it takes 10 working days for a foreign pending transaction to drop off? and nobody was able to provide me this info at Natwest, shame big shame0
