Wanting to go to Crete for 2 weeks this May and also one week on Symi via Rhodes.
Does anyone know of a ferry company that travels between possibly Heraklion and Rhodes? Have tried Googling, but no joy.
Thanks

:eek:Not sure but think you might have to go via Athens
This would not make it feasible. Found that there is a flight with Aegean Airlines, but again it goes via Athens.
Would really have liked to have just flown to Rhodes, but can't find a direct flight from Manchester (believe me I've tried). All the indirect flights add like 4 - 6 hours to the journey. 8 hours to Rhodes is too much time.
Just want to go island hopping for the wifes' 40th. Have found a direct flight to Mykonos which may be viable. Possibly a good base to hop.0 -

saveapenny , the dates we can fly out are from the afternoon of May 4th onwards and latest return is May 28th. Looking for the maximum time.
Twopints thanks for that. Great minds think alike. I just came back to answer myself withhttp://www.ferries.gr/gaferries/dalianaEN.htm
It looks like it takes about 13.30 hours:eek: So not an option really. Just wanted to go back to Symi for her 40th, as that's where I proposed. There's always her 50th:D
So maybe trawl round the Cyclades for 3 weeks, from Mykonos. It's a long long time since I was that way. Possibly 25 years and never got to Mykonos, as I used to go on holiday with a mate of mine and in those days it was a gay island. Believe it's changed now.0 -

Thanks for the info savapenny. The first option isn't any good - not long enough and the wifes birthday is the 27th.
But Bodrum may be an option, will investigate further.
Just shows what can happen you you think outside the box!!0 -
According to my book (from https://www.greekislandhopping.com) which is well worth purchasing if you are doing this sort of thing - it has an indication of what the ferry timetables and routes are - there are limited ferries from Crete to Rhodes as follows:
Iraklion to Rhodes - once a week - ship Vitsentzos Kornaros/LANE Lines.
Ag Nikolaos (which also stops at Sitia) - once a week - ship Ierapetra, also run by LANE Lines.
Both these boats are old, so may be withdrawn, but then are likely to be replaced with something newer (but not that new). And the timetables are usually not firmed up on until a few weeks in advance.
Agree its a fair old trek. However, depending on the times, you could always get a cabin.
Is Kos-Symi not an option?
