Turkey visa - arrive by cruise ship

Hi all
We will arrive in Istanbul by cruise ship and need to fly home from there - may do a quick tour of Istanbul before we go. We are both British citizens - should we get a visa before we go or can we get one at the port??
Many thanks

Don't know about visa in your case but PLEASE spend even a little time in Istanbul, you won't regret it.

Its £10 sterling each. You pay it at passport control.

Is that passport control at the port or the airport though olias - I know you can get them as you enter at the airport but never arrived and left a country by different methods before! and Bob, we are hoping to see some of Istanbul before we fly out.

You get them at passport control before you enter the country so that will be, in your case passport control at the port, IIRC you have to pay in stirling, all this information should have been in your holiday itinerary.

Yes they suggest contacting an agent or can do it for us for just 50 dollars!!!!! (each). Having read one poor famiy's experience with easy jet where they weren't allowed to board because easy jet thought they needed the visa before departure don't want to get caught short as they say. I know if we arrive into Turkey at the airport it's 10 eac so if it's the same at the port that's great. Thanks

I'll check my old passport but as far as I remember, when you leave, they put the exit stamp over the entry visa, can't understand why there would be problems, allthough when we were staying in Marmaris, people were warning of a scam where some people were being charged for a new entry visa when doing the boat trip from Marmaris to Rhodes, don'tt know how true this was though as we never did the trip.

Stirling is a fair old trek from Turkey, will they not accept pounds Sterling at the port?

For British passport holders, its a visa on arrival, whether by air, sea or land. I've done all 3 with no problems at all- I love Turkey! You can pay either 10pounds or 15 euros
