Carers Allowance & Attendance Allowance

My mum gets Attendance Allowance if I was to claim Carers Allowance as I look after her would she lose this benefit?

    No,,,,

    but you need to check, as you can't claim CA when getting certain other income/ benefits yourself

    Not on any benefits at the moment just been made redundant and going to Job Centre tomorrow will only be able to claim on contribution basis, as always worked and have savings.

    Is your mum getting Pension Credit? if so, check her award as she may have premium called "extra amount for severe disability" if you claim carers and it goes into payment, she will lose this premium and therefore have knock on effect on other benefits ie housing benefit/council tax benefit especailly if it takes her off the Guaranted Element

    An excellent point.

    Gaining £58.45 in Carers Allowance could well see the 'Appropriate Amount' for Pension Credit purposes go down by £58.20 + partial loss of HB/CTB!!
