Credit card advise

Hi,

I am hoping that someone may be able to answer a couple of questions I have regarding credit cards.

1. In the event that you default your credit card payments and your account is passed onto a debt agency, can the credit card company continue to charge interest on the outstandinng debt?
2. I intend to reclaim unfair credit card charges. I have read the article on reclaiming bank charges and understnd that its pretty much the same for cc. However, I am unsure whether you should claim for the full total of charges or to claim for the difference between what cc companies charged minus the recomended charge (£12).

Any advise would be appreciated!

Many thanks

    1. You would have the default quite a few times I think before your debt is sold onto a DCA, and at that point its the DCA that will choose to add on interest or not

    2. Sorry, I am against reclaiming charges and will not help on that subject

    Thanks for the response,
With regards to point 1, my parents are currently being chased by a DCA for the CC debts, barclays have passed the debt on to DCA (Mercers), does this mean that barclays have sold this debt to mercers? or that the DCA are chasing this debt on behalf of barclays. Should Barclays tell my parents if/when the debt is sold on? Sorry for these basic questions, never had experience of how this all works..

Mercers ARE part of Barclays/Barclaycard they are Barclays in-house DCA, and they are a right pain in the A***. I have had dealings with them in the past trying to collect a debt that belonged to my step-son.
Aiming to be debt free....but still off target
