Not quite sure what you are asking. Do you want to remaove a Norton Anti-Virus programme from your computer? Or do you want to download Norton, or the Removal tool?

If you want the removal tool, go HERE:

    www-secure.symantec.com

    - and look for the Version for your Windows (XP - 7 - whatever.) Make sure you choose the right one, say XP Home or Windows 7 Home Premium 64 or 32 bit.

Let me know what it is you are looking for and I may be able to help you.

EDIT: IMHO you are right not to like or want Norton. There are better alternatives. I can recommend 2.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Yeah, I have norton anti virus which I'm going to remove from the missus's laptop. Does the removal tool have to be used as the reviews are pretty bad..?

Was going to use MSE, any good..?

It's better to use the tool.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?docid=20080710133834EN

Follow the instructions and you shouldn't go far wrong.

Last Friday my laptop was running slow so I restarted it,when it booted up I found that Norton had installed itself on my machine without my knowledge & had deactivated my AVG.I certainly didn't visit any Norton sites or places like that so I've no idea how it happened.
However I just used CCCLeaner after running the uninstaller that was in the the Norton file.

It's highly improbable that any of the Norton AV suites (100MB + download) downloaded & installed themselves without your knowledge.

It was probably the Norton Security scan which is know to be bundled with freeware such as Adobe Shockwave Player.

Plus the fact AVG really should not allow itself to be deactivated without your knowledge

Ahhh....That must be it as I'd updated by Adobe Shockwave Player that day as it kept crashing on my Opera browser...

Norton was the first programme to show up in the icon tray, which alarmed me as I didn't know what the hell it was until it fully started,by then my AVG was showing as off & I got the usual windows alerts after.
Once Norton was off I ran a full virus,Malwarebytes & Spybot scan to be on the safe side.
Lappy came up clean apart from the usual cr @p.
