Do I have to pay back tax credits over payment?

Basically I had an over payment of £460 by the tax credits, but it was their fault, something to do with a computer error that it kept paying me even though I had told them in the required amount of time I was no longer in work. I disputed it and they said I still had to repay it and if I didn't it would goto a local recovery so I panicked and I had a family member pay it for me. Is it too late to appeal or do anything else now that is has been paid?
Also I wanted to know the last tax year they have again over paid me by £100 and they said it was because it was a bank holiday that the over payment happened. They told me I can dispute it but the same thing is likely to happen in that they will not over turn the payment. What can anyone advise? Any help would be appreciated?

I know its probably not what you want to hear but if they owed you £460 due to an error - would you want them to pay it?
I know you informed them but you must have noticed your payments never changed so you was aware that it hadn't been rectified and benefitted (for a short while) from the over payment
You could have asked to pay back XX a week/month - you didnt need to get it paid straight away. The recovery bit is for people who point blank refuse to pay back the money
I would personally over estimate every year by at least £1000. Better they owe me than me owe them0
