My father gave me a number of goods to sell on his behalf.
He lives in france and it would be easier for me to see for him via ebay.
I have recently sold his Semi-Precious Gemstone & Mother-Of-Pearl Map of the World in Gold coloured Frame, not to everyone's taste, but hey.
i choose parcel please as the courier who always outsource, this time around it was UPS.
The parcel was very well packaged up, the buyer did comment of how good it was, but aparently this was the email i got when they received it.
Now of course i want to see pictures, as both my husband and i know there was no broken glass at all, i can't be 100% about the backboard to be honest.
Buyer apparently is struggling to post pictures via ebay but wants the cost of glass replacement and fitting.
Quick email from parcel please so no compensation as glass was on their list of not covered.

Dad has already been sent the money for this and now i feel upset that either i am going to be out of pocket, or i have to now go back to my dad and say i need you to give me the money back to give to buyer.
Or is the buyer pulling a fast one as they seem to be struggling with providing picture, and how long to i give them to show me said damage, just feel really jarred off, PP were reasonable priced, the semi precious stones i knew of and figured under glass should be ok.
Husband thinks this has been dropped. by whom we don't know, we can assume UPS, as they picked it up and delivered, do i go to them about this?

You didn't mention any damage on e-bay. On unpacking found crack on backboard (which doesn't matter) and 2 breaks on front glass at bottom of frame at approx 6" apart at approx 4" and 5" in length. Only small dent in cardboard packing. Was this damage on Map before sending? Looking into cost of new glass + fitting before decide what to do. Your map/picture was very well packed. Can send pictures if you want.

I think it is very likely that the picture was dropped or at least badly placed in transit and damaged by other parcels. It is also very possible that the glass could break whilst the outer packaging looks undamaged. This is one reason why I gave up my cunning business plan to sell art-it would have needed crating or wooden boxing to be sure to arrive undamaged. Very few couriers seem to insure framed and glazed pictures, so if yours does not then you cannot make a claim.
I would continue to ask buyer to send photos or suggest they return it for a full refund and on safe return say you will also refund return postage. That means they will either have to,find a way of providing photos if they want a partial, but won't leave them out of pocket if they can't send photos and have to return it.
I would not give a partial refund without some sort of proof of damage but by offering a full refund on return it means you are fully compliant with both DSRs and with eBay policies.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
