Recommended Home Insurance Provider for Flat Roofed Home

I'd really appreciate a recommendation for a Home & Contents insurance provider who will cover a home with a flat roof. Currently with Halifax, but they've increased the premium by nearly 50% in the last two years. Most recent quotation was over £600 for the year.

I've given up using comparison sites as most insurance companies won't touch a flat roof.

    Try a local broker.

If the flat roof does not cover the entire roof area eg you have part pitched (Tiled Angled) then work out the approximate percentage of the roof which is flat as this will help the broker find a good deal.

Halifax are not a good Insurer to be with if you have a flat roof claims wise

You could try a broker or approach companies directly. Make sure that you have info about the constuction of the roof - ie is it concrete, asphalt (sp?) on wood etc. Maybe try

There are also mainstream insurers who will offer cover for a flat roof property but may require additional info than that which is supplied via a comparison site.

If are over 50 you could try

I believe that they can cover flat roof properties if they are concrete or asphalt and in fact I don't think you actually need to be over 50 - you just may get a better discount if you are!

You will always pay a bit more with a flat roof but I think you can certainly do better than £600. It may take a bit of phoning around though.
