Barclaycard cut off for late payments

Hi Guys,
I will keep this short and sweet. My Barclaycard bill was due 02/07, I called them at lunchtime and asked if I can pay on debit card, to which they said yes and it needs to be today. I got home after work and paid as expected (I cut it a little fine and I realise this now). The person who then processed the payment said it will go down as a late payment because it was after 6pm, but if I had paid at 5.59 it would have been fine.
Upshot of it all is that I have been slapped with a £25 fee and a late marker on my credit file. DD is set up now so it wont happen again, but I cant help but feel slightly annoyed. I literally paid at 6.30.
I really dont care about the £25 but the late marker is such a thorn in my side after I have worked really hard to build a decent credit file up.
Any hints on a letter that may save my derrière? I have to apply for a mortgage next month! What are the chances of them letting me off.

This is an automated process and very rarely is any discretion used. By all means explain you wee told to make a payment that day - which you did, but at no time were you given the 1800 deadline - and because of this you would like the marker removed.0

So when you say no discretion is used, do you mean because somebody doesnt manually input the info or because they point blank refuse to change info in cases like this.
It was my first payment on a new card. Pretty gutted if I am honest.0 -
The late payment may not even register I wouldn't worry about something that has not even happened yet.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

It has registered. The idiots in the Mumbai call centre don't understand what I am talking about. I made the payment on the date it was due and they are telling me it is a late payment.
Is there a UK call centre for all this?0 -
Barclaycard must update your account very quickly mines 2 months behind with Experian. Dispute it via the CRA and let them investigate.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

@joshua, don't bother yourself to much. My partner who missed her Barclays card payment 2times and even received late payment charges checked her credit report with all the 3 CRA and to her surprise it all shows green, no late payment recorded. I don't know if it was luck or discretion .Aqua Advance £ 9500 ( Settled ) | BC Platinum Card 25/25 £10500 | 24 studio £1950 | SimplyBe £1800 | Nationwide Flexplus A/C OD £800| Meaningless Noddles score= 3/50
