You incriminated yourself by saying you were driving at 33 mph in a 30 mph limit.0

+1You incriminated yourself by saying you were driving at 33 mph in a 30 mph limit.
If you're going to deny you were speeding, and defend the allegation in court, then making an admission of guilt is not a smart move.
Excess speed is an absolute offence, so 33 or 39 you will still get done. It's a bit like telling a policeman you didn't murder two people, you only did one of them.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -
thanks for the replies
33 clock speed
true speed 30
cant see how that has anything to do with a double murder tho0 -
It's called an analogy.cant see how that has anything to do with a double murder tho
The copper will testify that he judged you at significantly over the limit and that his calibrated equipment confirmed his suspicion. The court will believe him.
Bear in mind that you say he pulled over to let you past. Whilst you may have slowed down to "33mph" (or 30mph as you later backtracked), he may have already taken your higher speed reading by that point.
Your only chance will be finding some kind of technicality such as an expired calibration certificate or somesuch.0 -
