Hot plate mark on kitchen worktop

1y4tqc.jpg

As you can see a hot dinner plate has left a mark on the kitchen worktop.

The worktop is about 8 years old. We moved in last year so we don't know the make or type etc. It was installed in a new build by Bovis/Taylor Woodrow so is probably of decent middling quality.

The plate must have been exceptionally hot as we have placed many hot items straight from the oven on the worktop without a problem.

It had been in the microwave and it must be the type of plate that strongly aborbs microwave energy.

Any tips about removing or minimising the mark or is it permanent?

Sadly, I suspect the latter.

Thanks

Try one of these (or all of them)

1 brasso or another metal polish.
    2. T cut (usually used on the car

If you have accidental damage on your buildings insurance it will be covered so that may be a final option.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

That kind of worktop is very common, so if you do end up replacing it eventually, it will be very easy to track down from most of the diy sheds and kitchen supply companies.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

the worktop is everest gloss, or Matt depending what you have, chances are you wont get it out if its burnt the top to deep.
