Can I pay my Halifax rewards credit card by direct debit from a non-Halifax account?

I've recently upgraded my Halifax "all in one" card to a rewards/clarity card. I've received the direct debit agreement which just carries on from the "all in one" direct debit arrangement linked to my Halifax current account.
Can I ask them to take the DD from another (non-Halifax) account or does it have to be linked to the Rewards current account?
