Third party insurance taking ages to admit liability

Hi,
I got hit from behind on a roundabout on the 7th June and promptly reported the accident to my insurance company (admiral). The third parties insurance (Aviva) have still not admitted liability and wont even take calls from Admiral when they call.
My old car has since been written off and I have got another car but my renewal date for the car insurance is 02/08. If the claim is not settled by the renewal then my insurance jumps from £1300 to £1900 a year (even after searching all the comparison sites) which although I could claim it back once the claim is settled its money I dont really have.
Is there anything I can do to hurry the claim along or reduce the amount i pay for the renewal?
Any tips would be amazing.

6 weeks ish is not a particularly long time in claims.
Its been a few years since I last did claims but back then Aviva (or NU as it was then) were more old fashioned in terms of wanting claims forms and diagrams etc which all adds time but would also go much further in terms of getting their clients permission to do things than others.
There is nothing you can do to hurry things up, especially if you have claimed through your insurance for the damage to your vehicle already.0 -
Apart from continually nudging your insurer, not a lot you can do. But even when all sides co-operate, it does take months to conclude claims.
Next time you are involved in anything where you are blameless, consider pursuing the third party insurer direct yourself rather than claiming off your own policy, which could save all this hassle (asssuming the TP insurer will deal with you)
You should shop around as usual at renewal (disclosing this open claim and reduced NCD), but contact your chosen insurer prior to buying and get them to agree (in writing) that once the claim is concluded (and your NCD is reinstated) they will amend your premium back to the starting date, and refund you the difference.0 -
Ahh okay, well as frustrating as it is I guess I will have to just sit tight then.
To be honest this is the first accident that I have ever been involved in and I didnt even realise that I could go directly to the third parties insurer.
Thank you both for your quick replies, they were both spot on.0 -

Just to give a quick update, after the message from Aviva on here I contacted them and they gave me a call yesterday evening explaining exactly where they are with the process, and that although they are expecting to admit full liabilty due to their client not admitting liabilty they are having to do a full investigation. The investigation however should be finished by today so that they will be able to give me another call this evening and update me.
I must just say how impressed I am with Aviva. After almost two months of being told nothing its just nice to get some idea of how far through the process the claim is.0 -
