Credit card ppi - nationwide

I wrote and asked Nationwide for a list of charges on my credit card which I took out with the in l998 and also sent them a copy of a statement with this date. However, when the info came back they only sent info on charges for the last six years, which did not have ppi on it, although I paid ppi from 1998 to about 2006. They state they only keep information for longer than six years on either mortgages or loans but not credit cards.
Question, so how do I go about claiming ppi from commencement of the card to the time i stopped it? Any help appreciated.

Here's a response I posted in reply to someone in similar circumstances earlier today.Question, so how do I go about claiming ppi from commencement of the card to the time i stopped it? In order for you to have any hope of redress from this earlier period you'd have to provide them with comprehensive documentary proof (statements etc) from your own archive.
If you have no such documents it's game over, I'm afraid.
However, this won't stop you complaining and, if upheld, you'll at least receive redress on the last six years.
Banks do sometimes offer a goodwill payment for earlier periods, but this is by no means guaranteed .0 -
If the PPI was unsuitable for you, why did you hold onto it for 8 years?0

Moneyineptitude - many thanks - will now go up into loft to look. They have made an offer to pay from 2004 as according to them that's when certain regulations changed.
