Secured credit cards?

Hiya, I've never had any form of credit,no overdraft, catalogues etc and have found because of this I now find it difficult to even obtain a contract phone! The secure credit card offered by capital one, where you pay a security deposit before recieving your card, will using one of these this improve my credit rating? Thank you.

Absolutely yes, but make sure you use it wisely and don't go over your limit
