Aviva - annoying phone call

I've used price comparison sites for a while, but now expanded my searches to include the ones not included, such as Aviva and Direct Line. What I really like about price comparison sites apart from the cheap quotes is that I don't have annoying salesmen to talk to and give me all the usual sales patter. Now I find Aviva are chasing my quote up on the phone because (naively) I put in my correct phone number in the quote. Aviva's quote actually was fairly competitive, but the unsolicited phone call has convinced me to not use them at all.

Yes Aviva do this. The worst in my experience are AA. If you have any dealings with them, they will bombard you with phone calls all year round, to ask you about different products that might be of interest. The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

The next time they call, ask if the calls are recorded for training. If they say yes, tell them in no uncertain terms that you wish to have your number removed from the records, and that you formally withdraw any perceived or implied consent for them to send you marketing information via text, email, phone or mail. Insist that your preferences be updated and invite them to send you one email/letter to confirm the change. Nothing else will be accepted, and further bombarbment will be reported to the ICO.
If they say no, tell them you will record it instead, press anything that makes a beep, and say it all anyway.
I always put in a false number. Sometimes, it belongs to the comparison site. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Certainly some on aggregators (aka price comparison) do make marketing calls to customers - with most aggregators you have to have come in the top 5 to have marketing rights to that customer but these things of cause vary depending on how much commission you are willing to pay/ how much the aggregator wants to be able to get you on their panel.
Have to say, with the exception of one call from JohnLewis after getting a home insurance quote I've never been called after getting quotes - though I have set up this facility for a former client (not JL)0 -

Indeed, if you declare you've had a non fault claim on some comparison sites, you will be inundated with calls from no win no fee claims companies0
