Hi everyone, I am looking to book a holiday in Ibiza next year for two adults. I would ideally love a hotel with a lovely view of the sunsets by the beach on the edge of San Antonio, (not Clubland). My partner and I spend a lot of time on the balcony so a lovely sea view would be great. The other must is air con.
I have noticed over the past couple of years even though I request pool/sea view we always seem to be allotted one of the not so good rooms and my partner doesnt like making a fuss so we put up with whatever we get. This year for instance, we could see the sea but were on the windy side of a hotel in Lanzarote so couldnt even use the balcony. I am aware that the weather is not there fault but the majority of rooms at the hotel had a lovely view of the pool and were on the sheltered side of the hotel.
I have been looking at the Thomas Cook Hotel Bellamar but suspect that even if we pay extra for a sea view we would still get a room near the back at the side of the hotel, not one of the nice ones that can be seen on the brochure.
Any suggestions please?

I'd look to see if I could identify a suitable room(s) through Trip Advisor etc. and the phone the hotel to see if you can reserve it.
Follow it up with a confirmation email and then another a couple of weeks before you leave0 -
I stayed in the Sol Bahia in San Antonio, nice location, sea view rooms seemed to be genuinely sea view. Another place is Parc Blau - they don't have any partial sea view rooms, but I think all of their sea view accommodation is studio apartments, not hotel rooms (hotel rooms are on the back)0

Thanks for replying everyone, this may seem a bit trivial and I know its probably down to luck but I have been a bit disappointed for two years running now despite the travel company putting in my requests. The thing is I feel that when we are spending £1500+ it would be nice to stay in one of the rooms that the brochure photo is advertising, although I realise not everyone can have the best rooms.
Will take a look at the other suggestions, I am not in an immediate hurry so will study Tripvisor too. Many thanks2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

As an aside do you have any thoughts on why you get rubbish rooms?
The reason I ask is that my wife and I seem to suffer from the same thing....
We've booked particular rooms but been allocated entirely different ones which have been disappointing.
It might be conspiracy theory lol but I've been putting it down to my wife travelling under her maiden name. No reason for this other than she still - had - her passport in that name and we were loathe to fork out to change it when it was still valid. My streak of paranoia makes me wonder if we get rubbish rooms because hotels think we are un married or having an affair or something.0 -

Well thats given me something to think about, myself and my partner do have different surnames, but dont think Im about to get married because of this as we've been together 27 years. I do think however that when we had our daughter with us we always managed to get a pool view, this year if we hung out over the balcony we could see about 2 mm of a childrens pool ha ha.
I sometimes wonder if its because we are British and "put up" with the situation or maybe its because the UK travel agents get an allocation of the worse rooms theirselves who knows? Maybe people booking independently get a better selection that package holiday people.2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Ive had good and bad rooms when I wasnt married, i dont think its got anything to do with that, theres probably more unmarried people with different names staying in rooms than married ones!
Its probably more to do with what you said about the packages.
Or just bad luck. Or maybe other people/pay for the rooms.
The brochures normally show the best rooms in the hotel. Executive suites or whatever.
Look on tripadvisor for the real pictures!0
