£5 Globe Tickets

Options
Morning,

Has anyone been to the Globe with the £5 standing tickets? I'm thinking of going and wondered what the view/experience is like...

Thanks for your help

I'm going in 2 weeks so will be able to tell then.
  • The view is pretty good, we stood against the outer wall (something to lean on!) and could see a good deal. They're pretty conscious about staging so that you can see all the action. The english weather is also something to factor (ie it rains and you get wet, or its hot and you burn!) Its a good experience which is pretty close to how these plays would have been staged 400 years ago so it's a unique experience.
The plays can be rather long though, ours was 3 hours which is a long time to stand and they aren't as gripping as modern productions...

View is great but do bear in mind that under no circumstances will you be able to sit. But you can wander in and, which is nice. Some of the shows are already fully booked though (Twelfth Night certainly is) so don't assume you can just turn up on the day, especially if it's sunny.

A hat is advisable too - there's always at least one fainter if it's hot!
  • I caught Henry V 2 weeks ago and stood up at the back. Yes, it can be a long time stood up, but this is a small price to pay for the atmosphere, view and involvment. If you stand near the back to the right, the cast come in from the door their throughout the show and so you get really close to the action.

Another great part about standing up is the fact you can nip out to the toilet easily and also get a beer from the sellers outside and bring it in and drink.

It's a great day out. I definitely recommend it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Me and OH saw Romeo and Juliet there a couple of years ago. We both found standing for such a long time very tiring although that might be because of our age! We both walked around a bit but still found that towards the end our backs were aching and, as much as we were enjoying it, we were waiting on it to end!

Also it rained when we went which didn't help! We said when we go again we will definitely get a seat!
