Do you want good or cheap? Do you want the machine to be dedicated or just your usual one? Video wrangling is still a huge job for most computers, so needs an extra card which will do 4x encoding simultaneously. I have one if you want to buy it, but it is not particularly cheap because it records all 4 cameras at superior resolution at 25/30 fps.
If you actually wanted cheap, get a £300 kit from Maplin that includes a DVR. Quality of image is ok, but all 4 cameras contend alternating frames in a single video stream, pretty ugly for extracting the data from when you need to show the police, and it jumps about more than my fancypants card. Their DVR's firmware may have improved a bit in the past couple of years, but it will still be pretty basic/raw0 -
so you reckon connecting up to computer isnt worth it i seen this kit

I think Maplins sell them, have a look on their website https://www.maplin.co.uk0

its also worth giving these guys a look http://www.cameras-cctv.com/DVR_Systems As to wired or wireless that would depend on your particular requirements. in general wired can be harder to install, whilst there are range, intereference and security issues with wireless. remember that wireless cameras still require power wires ...At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0
