Office 2010 Problems

Options
Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop and am trying to install the Microsoft Office 2010 60 day trial on my laptop which seems to install fine until this message comes up:

Set up error

You cannot install the 64-bit version of Office 2010 because you have 32-bit version Office products installed. These 32-bit products are not supported by the 64-bit installations:

Microsoft Office Powerpoint viewer 2007 (english)
Compatibility Pack for the 2007 office system

If you want to install the 64-bit Office 2010, you must uninstall all 32-bit Office products first then run setup.exe in the x64 folder

I have uninstalled the two programs above but does anyone know how I run the run setup.exe in the x64 folder?

I don't have the discs my laptop came with and cannot afford to buy the Office 2010 until the end of August but need it for working from home. I'm running Windows 7 operating system if that helps.

Thanks

I don't know how your system is structured, but you could just download the 60 day trial and start again.

You can get it from here legally! http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/try/

I read that as you already having and used a 60 day trial of 2007 and you are trying to install another trial to get a further 60 days, is this right?

If so it doesn't work, there are embedded registry keys which will prevent you getting a further trial, even if you uninstall/reinstall. The post is a little confusing as you mention 2007 viewers etc.

If that's not what you are trying to do then it sounds like you are trying to install the 64 bit version on a 32bit machine. You need the 32 bit version, which you can get from the link in the previous post.

Sorry i should have explained myself better, I had to restore my laptop back to factory settings as it had a serious problem over the weekend.

When it was restored it automatically had an icon on the screen linking to the 60 day trial of Office 2007 which I did click to install, but then changed my mind when it said I could trial the Office 2010 version instead so prehaps it thinks I have had two trials and why the error message came up.

Anyway I have contacted Microsoft who said to try installing the 32-bit version of Office 2010 trial instead which I am doing.

    Thanks for your help.
