splitting tomatoes

I am kindly being given quite a few cherry tomatoes. The problem is, while I go home they are splitting. Not all off them, but obviously the ones that are splitting are going mouldy really quickly. Any way I can stop them from splitting?

Thanks for any help.

Water plants regularly and consistently, so it's not feast then famine for the plants. Ventilate greenhouse tomatoes during very hot spells and provide shading. Promptly pick off any split tomatoes before they start to rot.

I think these are ready-picked tomatoes, no? They split because they are fully ripe, tender skinned and very juicy. Keeping them cool when transporting will help, as would keeping them aired, rather than in a plastic container with a lid. Don't bash them about to bruise, and put them on kitchen paper in a cool environment (but not the fridge) as soon as you get home.

Best way is - eat them on the way home!

yes I am picking them myself. I agree to eat them as soon as possible is the best, but I want some for my lunches you see. I will keep them aired and as cool as possible on a hot day like today.

    thanks for your help.

They might be too watery, all my tomatoes are bursting on the plant due to the rain, so perhaps they are doing the same, just after picking.
