Tricked out of a job?

I think it's time to move on and to put it down on her CV as temporary covering work and not to say she was not kept on because of work standards!
I was 'moved' out of a job due to performance issues, nothing had ever been brought up before so I was very surprised. I got BECTU involved who didn't help very much at all, and when they spoke to HR they got a different version of events, a great list of ways my performance had been awful at work and they said to me to quietly leave and not kick up a fuss.
My replacement was a friend of my boss, who I discovered afterwards had been angling for some time to get her into the job. I can assume it was nothing to do with my performance and a way to get me out, I got another job very quickly and moved on.
The fact I am posting this up on MSE shows it still riles me though, and this was 14 years ago! Tell her she can get a better job with better salary and to use this as a springboard to something far better.0 -
My point was really that there was no probation, it was a temp job falsely advertised.
Not quite - it sounds as though at the time the employer did not know whether they needed a temp or permanent employee (as they were waiting on the person on maternity leave to confirm whether they were going to return or not).
Although I agree that this is a terrible way to go about things (particularly if the your wife left a permanent job for this one), in reality there is little or nothing the she can do and it will be a more constructive use of time to move on and find another job.0
