Recovering music from an iphone

Options
Long story short: My pc had a fatal crash a week or so ago and I lost everything!

I managed to cobble it back together using old back-ups and I have jhust about got it back to normal - I have also bought an external HD and paragon software to do regular weekly backups :o.

However on re-installing itunes - the last time I backed up my music was 2009:eek:. My itunes is showing as 437 songs on my pc but my phone has over 1000! I can't sync it or I will lose 600 or so songs. To add insult to injury my CD/DVD drive is no longer working so I can't get the songs off the original CDs (aaargh)

My son (super experienced 17yr old:rotfl:) says that there is a way to get the music off and he will do it when he gets time - but I din't really trust him;)

Is there a way please, please, please????

your not prepared to trust your son... but trust a load of strangers on the internet ....

There are numerous ways to accomplish what you want, use a google search to research and use the method which looks easiest.

Alternatively as with any Data Recovery if you want piece of mind take it to a local expert data recovery company, they should be able to whip the data of in a hour or so.

I used a program called Sinuti to do this once. I had a free trial, after that it cost £30 or so to buy the software...

Must admit my first reaction was that this cannot be done via ITunes, however maybe it is possible having read this

How to transfer music from an iPod to a Windows computer

1: Connect your iPod and launch iTunes. In the iPod management screen, scroll down to Options and check "Enable disk use." iTunes will give you a warning--select OK.

2: Now open My Computer and open your iPod drive.

3: Open Tools > Folder Options. Click the View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders."

4: Now in your iPod folder, open iPod_Controls > Music. Highlight all of the folders and drag them into the desired folder on your hard drive. This might take a while, depending on how much music you're transferring.

5: Highlight all of the folders again, right-click, and select Properties. Uncheck "Hidden." Close this window.
Once the files are copied, you've successfully transferred the music. However, you'll notice that the songs have four-letter names and are scattered among many folders. It's OK. Once you import the music into iTunes (or any other media player), the program will reinstate the titles of the songs.

Now I have never done this, it may be Ipod specific but it's free and may be worth a try, or run it past your son, good luck
