Penalty charge notice from Swale council

Just got a Penalty charge notice from Swale council(£25 if i pay now or it goes up to £50 if i dont pay within 2 weeks)for overstaying by 6 minutes so i need some advice as to how i might "appeal" against the charge.
I was only visiting Faversham and got hopelessley lost on my way back to the car park resulting in the 6 mins overstay...bit stingy isnt it?
How do i worm my way out of this one?never had one of these before but believe that there may be a way of putting in an "appeal" or some form of excuse that may help me to avoid the charge/fine...any help appreciated.
Fully aware of the difference in "penalty" and "parking" charge notices and i am happy to report that i am now also the proud owner of another one of these from Parking lie...2 in a week aint bad...one legal and one speculative

Can you post the above into a new thread, this one is about private parking, yours is a council pcn which is different - thanksExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
will do,just got a bit excited about being able to shove another ignore towards parking lie0

As it is appears to be a local authority issued PCN don't ignore it. You can write to them to make informal representations to see if they will accept your explanation as to why you returned late. if they don't accept them then it will be a case of seeing if you have grounds to contest the PCN formally. If you go to the council parking section at www.pepipoo.com they can advise you on how to proceed.
If you pay the reduced amount then that will be the end of the matter and once it is paid you cannot appeal any further and try and claim it back."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
