Tax credits over £100 less this month?

Tax credits went in yesterday and they are over £100 less than usual .
Our income for 2012/2013 is lower than last year, but because i was on maternity allowance (my employer was refusing to pay me smp
) they used this years income to work out our tax credits..... So now I'm back at work were over £500 a month worse off than when I was on maternity leave due to child tax credit drop and me doing less hours now due to childcare. My oh works over 40 hours a week.
So I phoned them up and they went through all the usual and then said my tax credits ar ethis amount because we are paying back an over payment of £199 till January which is fine I worked it out to be paying back just over £30 a month not sure how we had an overpayment though .
And the second reason being that I had a one off payment of £77 last week which is why this month it is less.
Does that mean the £77 one off single payment will be added back onto my tax credits as usual next month ?
Just a little confused on how my tax credits have gone down SO much when my income has lowered
Thankyou in advance

Hi Thankyou for your reply
We have one child. The figures I gave them on the phone from p60s for the tax year they are looking at is £11,100 and £1500.
This year will be about the same I imagine, unless I can get more overtime which I'd love to be able to do, as soon as my partner walks through the door I'm off out to work x0 -
sounds very starnge. i'd asume that the one off payment was myou are going to earn a combined total of 312,600?
I JUST CHECKED AND IF THOSE FIGURES ARE CORRECT IT SAYS YOU SHOULD BE GETTING ABOUT £103 A WEEK IN WTC AND CTC ( DIDNT ENTER ANY CHIKDCARE)0 -
Yes that's the figures that I got Aswell, Thankyou
I'm not sure why it's dropped so much all information I've ever given them is correct and ivealways phoned and told them! . Does sound like it could be now working it out the money missing each month from tax credits could be because of the overpayment I'm paying back. Based on the figure of £103 a week for this tax year0 -
Wait till they send you your declaration to confirm your income details. If the repayment of the overpayment is causing financial hardship, write to HMRC and request lower payments, explaining why, maybe good to send in an income/expenditure form. You can get one from the CAB/National Debtline websites.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

How many hours are you working to get £1500. Are you both working more than 16 hours a week?
What was your total household income for 10/11, 11/12 and estimated 12/13? (It isn't clear from your post above).

My other half is working 40 hours for the £11,100 from April 12- April 13. And I earned £1500 from April 12- April 13 (I only earned any money from working in April, may and June because after that I was signed off the rest of my pregnancy Ill and unpaid) as then from september I went onto Maternity allowance.
For April11-April 12 our joint incomes Were £10,233 and £5198. The highest from again my other working £40 hours. And the £5.198 from me working 20 hours. For last tax year based on the 11-12 figures I phoned the hotline after my little one was born and done my first ever claim based on these figures, but they then told me once I got my award notice for that to phone back and change the claim based on this year as our income had lowered me being on maternity allowance which I did as you can see from the top numbers.
2010-2011 I was at college so only doing 4 hours a week and oh was at college full time for this tax year, so joint income was only Just over £1229.0 -
So that is probably why your figures have reduced.
Your 11/12 award would be based on 10/11 income (so you would have been getting maximum WTC and CTC).
Your 12/13 award will be based on actual 11/12 income of 15,500 (approx).
That is why you will have seen a fall even though you expect 11/12 and 12/13 to be roughly the same.0 -
Are you sure your partners wages are correct? I make them considerably under NMW for 40 hours a week.0

I think the OP and her partner are possibly both under 21 as her wage only equates to £5 per hour.0
