Comparision sites show incorrect figures....

I am currently with Scottish power and know my exact annual usage of gas and electricity . Using the Energy UK comparison site they show my present SP Online Energy 14 electricity price correctly but the gas price incorrectly. The best price was EDF at £502 pa however when I used my actual usage plus the daily standing charge the actual cost was £550.88 pa. Next best on the list was Ebico at £517 pa but using my actual usage with their daily gas/electricity unit rates the total annual cost came to £537.18 pa.
My advice to anyone would be to ignore these comparison sites and get the unit rates/daily sc from the company sites themselves and use your own actual annual Kwh usage figures. ed:eek:

What do you mean by 'price' - pence per kwh? The sites are design to provide the total cost pa based on your annual kwh consumption.

Plus you need to consider all the various discounts which the comparison sites should take into account.

Can't find an "Energy UK" comparison site. Is that name accurate:(?

My experience is that, occasional inadvertent errors excepted, comparison websites are accurate (as they are required to be to be Consumer Focus accredited). My advice to anyone is always compare three websites. IME uswitch and theenergyshop are consistently accurate:T. So choose your preferred comparison site (moneysupermarket even) and look for at least two that agree.

I am presuming you mean UK Energy.

There have been several threads on here on this topic and as far as I remember the comparison sites have always proved to be correct and the inputter to be wrong.

I have just entered my details in the above site and then worked out the Ebico results and the site's figures were correct. I used Ebico because you quoted them and the working out is simple as there are no discounts or standing charges, just multiply the kwh by the rate.
However the results could be confusing as the initial result was before VAT and they add that on later.

If you confirm you used UK Energy and post your kwh I am sure people on here will prove them correct.
