3 Piece Suite - Questionable Quality...Help!

Options
Afternoon all. Last August I 'purchased' a leather 3 seater, single armchair and '!!!!!!' from a large well known (celebrity Designer Fronted Store, if you catch my drift).

Although we could afford to pay for the suite outright, we decided to make use of the 1 year interest free credit option (thinking the longer money's in our bank, the better).

Unfortunately, since then we've realised that the leather scratches incredibly easily, also when sitting in the middle of the 3 seater (consisting of 2 seat cussions), you can feel the wood underneath the stuffing... and couple of other negatives.

How would you go about either getting the issues sorted, or more ideally, how should I go about returning the goods in order that we choose something with a little more quality?

I don't want to do anything underhanded, and want to behanve as justly as possible, however I feel that the suites quality does not reflect its price.

Your advice would be most appreciated, as always.

Have you spoke to the manager of the store yet ??

We had problems with our sofa(different company), the leather faded after 2 years use, really badly infact.
We didn't notice until we asked for a repair to the seating at the sides, it was giving way.
We wanted to make sure everything was clean under the cushions etc etc , thats when we noticed how faded it had become.....yeah !! it took 2 years before we removed the cushions to clean(so embarrassed).

We didn't get militant about it. Spoke to the manager, he sent out his scout. They reported back to the leather manufacturers. He took a cushion for sample. We waited for about 2 months for a reply.
They left it that long, the sofa was now obsolete, so the leather manufacturers asked us to go and choose another sofa.

We chose a different one worth about £1000 more than the original, and they didn't even argue with us.

TBO we were glad to get rid of that big pink monstrosity. Even the salesman couldn't believe his luck when he sold it to us in the first place !!

Donot stop payments on your sofa. No matter what. They can easily put you on a credit blacklist. All the arguing can be done later. In court if necessary.

Yes of course, don't worry. I think it may be model specific :)

I am sorry guys, but all you people who buy these so called "Quality" goods from the likes of DFS, SCS are getting what you paid for....rubbish. In this world you get what you pay for. Looked what happened to Courts, same rubblish. If you want something to last, you have to pay for it!

That does not mean to say the items you buy should not be fit for the purpose they are intented for and there laws for that, see the manager and quote laws to them. Other treads give you your rights under the sale of goods act.

We all have to live and learn, stay away from these shops, unless you really are the people who believe all the sales gimmicks.... guys I am sorry to tell you but "They are a con"

I know you are feeling rather bitter towards me, but the truth often hurts... Sorry!

No probs! I completely agree, however with such little disposable income for items such as this, I went for the best I could get for the price. I don't believe DFS sell poor quality merchandise, it's just that some designs are prone to certain flaws, mine being one of them.

Where would suggest we buy from?

And no, I'm not in any way feeling any bitterness towards you.

    Gibson,

Didn't mean to offend anyone, just that these places annoy me in that they play on the vulnerable by the con of a sale, when in fact the prices are still inflated for the quality you are buying. It is the law at fault which allows these companies to advertise in a couple of their stores very inflated prices for a few weeks, then low and behold they class it as a sale and sell it cheaper at all the other stores - it's a con!

I know people can not afford Harrods etc. But people should be made aware of the scams these people employ.

I am sorry, but everyone I know who has bought from DFS has had some sort of problems, of bad Wear and Tear, or cushions that lose shape and comfort. The quality is very bad, thats a fact!!

Say it like it is Davidboy !!

    The truth Hurts !!

I couldn't help but be bemused when all those people got crushed in a stampede to get the £59 or £69 sofa from ikea.

I often wondered if they got caught in the stampede twice.....once to buy it and again to take it back a week later !

You get what you pay for.
