Which is better value for money in 1 to 2 years time .
Options
I have 2 Choices to compare .
All I am interested is where will be the money less lost when the car is sold in 1 to 2 years
I am getting the following 2 for same value at the moment so what are your thoughts on resale values
I friend owns a local showroom he has agreed with me for 10.5K any of the following :
NISSAN QASHQAI 1.5 DCI NTEC 2010 New SHAPE . Manual = 60K Miles Black (2wd not 4x4)
BMW 520 D 2008 (58) SE With Leather + Auto = 97K Miles Black
I have driven both and both are good cars .

Why is that all you are interested in? Surely running costs and reliability over the period you own the vehicle will be of some relevance?
Oh, and what model is the BMW, and what engine does it have? It's a bit hard for anyone to comment without that information.

The cost of ownership of the BMW will be greater. I expect there will not be much in at resale time, though the Nissan may just edge it.Mortgage free

Sorry its a 520D 2008 BMW . SE0

You should really have a deeper think on what you want the car for. These two are so different I would think it was two different customers involved.
(And the Beemer is too much!)0 -
Just for the depreciation, I'd say the Nissan will lose more - the BMW has fallen further, and the Nissan has more falling to do. If you're under 10k per year mileage, the BMW will still be good to resell. It'll cost more to insure and service during ownership though, assuming no unreliability for either car. I'd rather be inside the Beemer all things being equal...0

Look at auto trader for 2year older cars with estimated mileage.
knock off £1.5k-£2k as trade in.
The nissan seems to be priced better than the BMW on a quick look at what is available.0
