Re-plaster or thick wallpaper?

I'm trying to get my house ready to sell. Have just finished removing wallpaper from a bedroom (roughly 5x4 metres) There are some cracks around the window frame and also a couple of small patches on a wall where the plaster is blown.
I'm wondering what is the best way forward- I could have a go at filling in (but I know from previous attempts that this won't be very good!), then I'd need to get a decorator to wallpaper.
Or get a plasterer in to skim walls and then I would paint them.
As I'm trying to sell I want to keep costs down but I also don't want buyers to be put off by imperfect walls.
All advice will be appreciated thanks.

The problem you could run across here is that a freshly decorated house hroughout makes any potential buyer who is the slightest bit canny say to themselves as they walk through the door - "what are they covering up?"
Anyway thst off the point. Rake out the cracks (to make them bigger - yes because your filler will take better) overfill with Easyfill and allow to dry. Then sand back to make smooth.
Is it possible that the areas of blown plaster are where you left the stripper on for too long? Removing the blown bits, overfill resultant hole with Easyfill and sand back.
You can probably paint straight over the top but if you are still unhappy with the walls overall then line with a heavy grade lining paper, not the 800 grade cheap carp the sheds sell, use minimum 1200 or 1400 if its that bad. Then paint in an neutral colour. If your purchaser doesn't like the colour then they just repaint later on.

You are right Keystone, many folks screw the plaster by zapping it with too much steam' and it blows, but,
I don't think to many folks are savvy enough to associate newly plastered walls with a problem.
I'd go with re skimming, patching shows unless you are a maestro;););)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Thanks for the helpful replies. I didn't use a steamer-just a scraper and damp sponge. Took 6 afternoons but I've now finished it. Sounds like skimming may be the best option-would the plasterer also fill in the cracks or should I do that first?0

Leave it to the plasterer, if it ain't right then it's his problem, if you are employing then don't get too deeply involved
