Claiming back PPI on a defaulted credit card.

I defaulted on a Barclaycard 5 years ago. Next March it will be removed from my credit file. If I made a PPI claim against them (was paying between £30-40 a month) would it just be used to service the debt, and if so does that mean it would stay on my credit file for another 6 years, or does it go off your file after 6 years from the default date or 6 years after the last payment was made.
Is there any point claiming? Would I be better waiting till 6 years has passed?

I have enough money to last me the rest of my life,as long as I die next Tuesday.

Yes, if the account has arrears or has defaulted then the Bank will offset any redress you might win against the outstanding debt.I defaulted on a Barclaycard 5 years ago. If I made a PPI claim against them (was paying between £30-40 a month) would it just be used to service the debt,
Ask questions like this one on the forum at the link below, they have more experience of bad debt legislation:does that mean it would stay on my credit file for another 6 years, or does it go off your file after 6 years from the default date or 6 years after the last payment was made.

It doesnt matter if the defaulted debt has expired or not. If there is any amount outstanding or amount written off then they can use any redress against that. It can also act as acknowledging the debt. That can be an issue if you are in the period you are close to it "running out of time".I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
