MBNA timing query

If my memory serves me right any BT offer available on your account used to automatically extend for a month as each month passed.

So for example if you logged in on say the 29th of july there might be an offer of a transfer until july of next year but if you waited a few days until the start of the next month and logged in again, the offer would now be until August next year.

Does that make sense? Not sure if I've explained that well.

Do they still do this? I have an offer on the account now and am wondering whether to wait until the start of next month or not.

Any ideas?

In my case they have often disappeared, only to reappear later. The rollover thing you mention did happen sometimes, but hardly as a rule.

In 7 years of holding 2 MBNA cards I can honestly say my offers never rolled over, ie the end date was always fixed.

I'm really surprised to read your replies. I thought this was *just* a standard thing.

Mmmm, not sure what to do now.

The offer states ' BT's done before end of August' so I do have some time to play with I suppose. :undecided

I think there may be some confusion here as to what the OP is asking and the replies coming in.

Yes, offers do generally extend by at least one month. I waited until the 1st July to do my latest BT as I thought the offer would roll over and extend. It did, by two months this time at 2%. I would say it occurs 9/12 months on my account.

Balances already transferred and under a prmotional period do NOT get extended which I think is what some people thought you were asking.

Apologies if I wasn't clear in my earlier post, but what I meant was that in my experience if there's an offer now for 0% until July 2013 for BTs completed by the end of August then in my experience it doesn't mean that if I don't take it this month then in August it'll say 0% until August 2013 for BTs made by the end of September.

In my experience if I don't take an offer as soon as it appears I'll lose a month's 0% because the end date remains the same, ie in the example above July 2013.

Reading that back I'm not sure it's any clearer(!), but I know what I mean. I do know I wasn't referring to existing balances though, and neither was the OP.

On a separate issue, it sounds like you've the Virgin Atlantic White card? I haven't had an offer on that card now for quite some time...and I could certainly make use of £19K at 0% for 12 months with a 2% fee!

I believe I answered the question as per the OP's meaning.

That said, I've not had any offers from MBNA for ages - roughly speaking since when they announced their getting out of the UK CC business. (Which I think is now not happening.)

I've not had any MBNA offers for ages neither has OH despite both cards being separate accounts and both paid off in full.

Rang them to see if any promotional offers available and was told no. So I said I would like to cancel my account, expecting to be transferred to customer retention but account was cancelled straight away!

Quite happy though as I can always reapply. Card, like all of my others had a limit of well over £10k.

I've got a 19K limit on MBNA, previously 23K (I applied for a second one and reduced the limit on the original card so increase the limit on the new card. I later closed the original card.)

I do think they give (gave) the highest limits. I spend long periods of time in Asia. Despite insurance and local friends, I do like to have plenty of available limit in case of emergencies. (Of course normal foreign spend goes onto other cards since MBNA loads foreign transactions.)

I think we're all singing from the same hymn sheet, I know what you mean.

Yes It's a Virgin White Amex/Visa with £23.5K. Had the card for about 6? years and never actually used it as you don't !! I seem to permanently have BT offers on the account and it's been a standard 2% fee for a long time now. Think I'm on my 4th BT now which I'm bouncing around other cards with very good limits. Why some get them, some don't it's a mystery, but maybe it's because I've been regularly making use of them ?
