Noisy Dishwasher - Is It The Motor?

Our dishwasher has just started to get really noisy, and it is like this all the way through the cycle. I am going to get someone out to have a look at it but I am just wondering if anyone else has any experience of the same problem.
Thanks in advance

  • Sounds like the pump - there isn't much else in there!
  • But the pump isn't on all the time is it? Only on filling and draining? Thats what I thought anyway!

  • No, there is a pump push the water through the two bits that spin round inside (there is anpther pump to drain the water out too). It might be worth taking it to bits to see if something is stuck in there.

There's a few things that can cause a noise problem, but you'd need to be a little more specific, like what machine is it for a start and what sort of noise as well as when it's noisy.

There is more than just a pump in there. ;)

Silt sandy stuff is food residues no doubt, 99% chance anyway. Make sure that the filters and spray arms are clear. You also need to make sure that nothing is blocking the path of the spray when you load the machine. It could be a fault, dodgy motor capacitor would be the first port of call.
