Tripod Quick Release plate

I'm supposed to be filming my brother's wedding on Monday afternoon. After lending my camcorder to a friend who's now on holiday for 3 weeks, it would appear he's swapped the quick release plate that was on my camcorder and fitted my tripod for a different one (he had his own tripod). I've got a Velbon CX 660 tripod and it doesn't appear Jessops or Jacobs sell them or the adapter plates. There are plenty of places online but I need it for Monday morning.

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a universal adapter or anything? I know I should have checked before now but I assumed it was all there.

We had the same problem with one of our tripods and a missing plate. Try asking on your local Freecycle, Freegle etc to see if by random chance someone has the same one, or similar that you could borrow and try/use. If you get no where with that, ask at the same time if someone will lend you a professional tripod. You might get lucky, we did with ours thankfully!

Visit your local camera shops seeking a solution such as this?

May be worth taking your tripod as a plate from another manufacturer could be near enough to work.

You could always buy a new tripod and sell it as "only used once" after the event. If push comes to shove you can always hand hold and use the tripod as a steady.
