Mail redirection and why would customer do this....

I have had a customer email me the item has not arrived.

Having checked back on the listing her address has since been removed from the system.

I pointed this out and she told she moved in Jan and her mail was being rediredcted.

However, she won the item end of Feb and had it sent to the old address.

Hmmmm... yeah right. Anyone know how long it takes for re-directions and whether there is additional time. Don't they usually bundle them up and do them in bulk?

Would you really buy something 5-8 weeks after moving into a new place and still have the items sent to an old address? I wouldn't but would anyone else. The address on Paypal is now unconfirmed so what happens now? First time I have come across this.

How often has she bought on ebay since she 'moved'?

I was under the impression a change of address on ebay and PP were quite easy?

I think they redirect mail once a week, but don't quote me on that, I did read about it somewhere but I can't find it.

Just checked and there are a few feedbacks after I did mine but yes, it is easy enough to change but why get stuff sent to an old address? All seems a bit bizarre and suspicious to me as it was signed off 'hope you kept your receipt'. You can also add another address to Paypal as an alternative delivery address so this is easy done. Just seems very odd and I wonder if you have to allow more than the usual 15 days delivery to claim it as lost in the mail. Mind you had a smile when I saw what else she had been buying after buying my items, LOL.

The problem being of course, am I covered with Proof of Postage because she has had the package sent to an address where she is not registered as living? This is what need to know. Anyone any ideas at all?

The post office forward items as first class when you set up mail forwarding. It seems to be done every day as soon as something arrives at the old sorting office. I wouldn't be too suspicious as there is so much to do when you move that it's not too surprising if some things have been forgotten. I was writing to people weeks after moving triggered by receiving letters that had been forwarded on!
  • If you posted it by Recorded Delivery, the item will eventually be returned to you if not delivered.
