Lanzarote Advice

I am off to the Lanzerote Gardens in Costa Teguise in early May.
I have some questions if anyone can help.
Anyone know hotel ?
What is worth seeing ?
Will there be many kids there, not sure about when our school Hols are or if that makes no difference ?
How windy is it going to be ?
I am half board but self catering appt, will I need to take a travel kettle & iron ?
Is it true that even if it's spanish I can only take back 200 cigs ?
thanks

We were in Lanzarote (Costa Teguise), about 2Years ago in August, a Brillant Holiday, when we were there it was a Heat Wave (I Mean it was HOT),
We stayed in the Port Tahitichi Apartments, very nice & clean & friendly.
Volcano's & Big Market, also we were at Ranch/Cowboy Western Night, was absolutely brillant.
It was windy but still very warm especially in the Heat Wave.
Food & Drink very reasonable.
Cigs, well we took back 1000 Cigs no problem.
Enjoy yourself.gar20050 -
I loved Lanzarote - learnt to scuba there too - have a look on https://www.tripadvisor.com and see if the hotel is listed there.Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 20160

Visit Timanfaya, probably best to do a bus tour for your first visit.

Teguise Market is OK if you like to haggle. I think it was on a Saturday, but I could be wrong.
Mirador del rio has a great view if you hire a car to get to it.

Also visit Manrique's house in the Volcanoe chamber at Jameos del agua.
Many visitors never see these things of beauty.0 -
Yep, its "outside the EU" so only 200 fags -unless you want to risk it!
Shouldnt be too many kids around, but there are usually families heading off all year round with preschoolers and there always seems to be a number of kids out of school going on holiday!
Make sure you slap on the suncream, you wont feel like your burning as the wind keeps you cool, but you;ll burn like a crisp as the UV is so much higher than the UK, even when its cloudy!
Have a good trip!0 -
Take a island tour ..there are many local coach firms that offer the trip and you will get a quick look at lots of things.
I love the west coast upto the valley of the thousand palms and el golfo down by playa blanca.
Its probably my second favourite holiday destination (clue to first is in Nic's name...lol)
Even though your half board if you only eat out once try the restraunt in Yaza its out of this world sorry cant remeber its name but if you ask for the one thats won loads of awards someone will know it.
And yes take a high factor in Teguise you really dont feel how hot it isIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
Many, many thanks to you all I am really looking forward to going now !
I really like to see as much as I can when I travel and I usually do the city break type hoilday so this is new to me. I am so pleased about the trips recommended, the national park looks awsome and I am off to read up on Cezar Manrique. I am sure I will enjoy the market and I would love to try scuba diving as I have only ever snorkled and would like to do a Red Sea trip one day.
I have always fancied Santorini and even bought a calender of the island once. I have never seen holidays there advertised. Is it difficult to get to ?
Oh my so many places ................. so little cash !
Thank you all, I will send back some sun xxx0 -
Have you tried Holidays uncovered for your hotel write up? Some of the reviews are very informative (and some are plain daft!)0

I have been to coata teguise 4 times, and will be there again this august.
There is a market in costa teguise on Friday nights, lots of locally produced bits, and imported stuff.
The main Tegiuse market is on a Sunday... travel independently by bus, as it is way cheaper.
If you like to go in the water , visit Jablillo beach, if you take little scraps of bread, you can put in the water, and all the fish swim up to you....
ps it gets really hot around 5pm to 6pm...so make sure you top up your lotion!!0
