Only one we could find was £117.00, which is out of the question. there are no time restrictions apart from have to leave after 5, Any knowledgeable peeps out there who could help, we would be really grateful. Thx from two useless blondes!!

hi, most of the fares are around £50...if you get train from southampton to london just after 5 for a tenner...takes twice as long as normal journey but three times cheaper....then get train to sheffield for £30 odd and quick connection for £5 anytime...also try going from Southampton to Manchester, and then separate ticket at for £4-£8 to Sheffield or Donc.0

If you are prepared for a late departure on the Friday (and I assume it's Friday - you are a bit vague on dates) then there's a £37.50 advance single available. Gets to Doncaster at 0215.....
And earlier there are a lot of first class tickets at least a bit cheaper than that £117
I'm assuming it's just one way too as that's all you say0 -
Somewhere on this site is a fare splitter. Oddly enough, if for example you're going from London to Edinburgh, it's sometimes cheaper to buy a ticket to one of the stops on the way and another from that stop to the final destination. than it is to buy one ticket all of the way there.
Also, depending on how old your daughter is (and how often she travels by train), is a young person's railcard an option?0 -
Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. Think she is going to go with megabus, which we had never heard of0
